  • U.S. News & World Report ranked Ball State eighth among "up-and-coming" colleges and universities in 2011, placing us among institutions "that recently made the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus, or facilities." U.S. News has also recognized our programs for first-year students 10 years in a row.
  • The Princeton Review has named Ball State one of the best universities in the Midwest nine years in a row.
  • Ball State's classification by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has risen to research university, high research activity (RU/H).
  • The Chronicle of Higher Education ranked Ball State sixth for improvement in graduation rates among all public research institutions for cohorts graduating between 2001 and 2008.
  • Ball State's Division of Online and Distance Education was a corecipient of the University Professional & Continuing Education Association's Strategic Innovation in Online Education Award in 2014.
  • Ball State received the 2012 New Media Consortium Center of Excellence Award for outstanding achievement in engaging digital media campuswide.
  • Ball State has been named four times since 2009 to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition for a university's commitment to volunteering, service learning, and civic engagement.
  • The Princeton Review's Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2013 Edition featured Ball State as one of the nation's most environmentally responsible colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada for the fourth year. Sierra magazine also included Ball State in its 2013 list of "Cool Schools."
  • Ball State received the International Sustainable Campus Network's first Excellence in Integration Award plus a STARS Gold rating by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) in 2012.
  • Ball State was listed as a university that goes above and beyond the Americans with Disabilities Act in the 2012 book College Success for Students with Physical Disabilities.
  • G.I. Jobs has named Ball State a Military Friendly School for the past five years—placing us in the top 20 percent of all schools nationwide that deliver the best experience for veterans.
