English Placement

Because the University Core Curriculum (UCC)  includes an English composition course, all students will have an English placement for English Composition courses when entering at Ball State. The placement is determined by using the SAT or ACT writing score and the student's Academic Index determined by the Office of Admissions and based on the academic transcript. If, however, a student does not have one or both of these criteria, issues of placement must be determined by a placement test taken through the Writing Program Office in the Department of English, Robert Bell 297, 765-285-8580.

Advanced Standing credit for UCC Composition courses is a possibility, but you would be notified by the Office of Admissions prior to your enrollment at the university if you earned credit in an English composition course .
