Booking Procedures

Booking is required before using the resources of the CERES Lighting Laboratory. Booking the Heliodon facility and imaging equipment are two separate but linked processes.

Options

Be aware that using the heliodon facility and using the imaging equipment are two separate but linked procedures. Patrons may use the heliodons independent of or in concert with the imaging equipment. Quick, simple, and highly informative sessions can be conducted without the use of the imaging equipment.

Facility Use

All heliodon facility use, even walk-in use, must first be booked in the CERES Office. The facility can be booked with the CERES secretary in room AB 018. Phone bookings are acceptable by calling 765-285-1135. Normal availability is from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1p.m .to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday during the academic year. Summer hours may vary. The facility is normally unavailable during holidays and breaks.

Individual bookings are accepted in 30 minute increments with a maximum time of 1 hour. Time slots begin and end promptly on the half hour. With adequate preparation, most studies can be performed within a ½ hour time slot. See the section on preparations for guidance on how much time to reserve. When making a reservation a user will be asked to provide name, course name and/or designation (e.g. ARCH 301), faculty member name and desired time and duration.

Class group bookings may be requested for longer time slots. These requests are subject to the facility schedule and availability and must be placed personally by the course instructor.
