Passive House Consultants Training

In conjunction with CERES, Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) is conducting a Certified Passive House Consultant Training course at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.  PHIUS is the leading Passive House training organization in the United States, and employs a roster of trainers with experience designing and building successful Passive House projects in all of the U.S. climate zones.

Passive House is a stringent building energy standard--it reduces a building's energy load for heating and cooling to 10- 20 percent of that of an equivalent conventional building. It is a design and performance standard that uses modeling software to eliminate thermal bridges, maximize solar gain for heating (and minimize it with shading for cooling), create a supertight envelope, and employ super-insulation techniques.

The nine-day training is conducted over two phases.
Originally scheduled in March of 2012, the training sessions have been postponed.  Please watch this page for updated information about rescheduling.

Taking the course, then passing the final exam, leads to "Certified Passive House Consultant" status. Consultants learn to use the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP), and how to apply Passive House design techniques to residential, commercial, and retrofit scenarios.

Students who complete the course are eligible for 63 AIA CEUs, 32 GBCI CEs, and BPI continuing education credits.
