As the Center for Media Design’s (CMD) Executive Director, David Ferguson has provided leadership and strategic vision to realize the CMD’s potential. Under his guidance, the CMD has become nationally and internationally recognized for innovative design, media research and industry collaboration.
Now as associate vice president for Ball State’s new Emerging Media Initiative, Ferguson is leading the university’s comprehensive effort to facilitate cross-disciplinary research, engage with industry and government in relevant ways, and develop new educational and commercial models in emerging media.
In addition to his positions at Ball State, Ferguson is president-elect of the International Digital Media and Arts Association (iDMAa) and served as host of its 2009 international conference. He has also served on the boards of local economic development organizations such as Indiana Venture Center, and has lead the only university contribution to strategic discussions with TechPoint and local businesses (such as Exact Target and Compendium Blogware) about the potential for emerging media to become a significant economic driver in Indiana for an area identified as “measured marketing.”
