How about those dreams of singing a favorite Christmas song in the curve of a baby grand as the party falls silent to hear every note? Dale Basham will host Cabaret Singing 2013, a class for men and women who have always wanted to have their moment in the spotlight, at The E.B. and Bertha C. Ball Center on Minnetrista Parkway. Basham will be joined by his singing partner of twenty-five years, Rebecca Bly. The legendary Paul McDaniel will accompany on the piano. Together they will prepare their students for a Christmas Cabaret at Vera Mae’s Bistro on the first Thursday of December and for the Holiday Open House at The E.B. and Bertha C. Ball Center the following evenings. Basham & Bly have sung together all over town for years - supper clubs at The Carriage House during the eighties, too many weddings to count, The Old Washington Street Festival year after year, The National Anthem at any number of events, the reopening of the historic Roberts Hotel. They’ve been around! Cabaret Singing 2013 will last for seven Tuesdays, beginning October 15, 2013, from 7-9 p.m. in the main salon of the mansion. Be prepared to rehearse a favorite torch song from the 30s, 40s, or 50s and then a favorite holiday tune suitable for a Christmas Cabaret. The class will be limited to the first ten cabaret singers to enroll. No experience is necessary, but dreams are required.
