Glenn Platt

PlattGlennAt Miami University, Glenn Platt is the C. Michael Armstrong chair and professor of marketing and has been director of the Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies (AIMS) since 2000. Platt, along with his colleague Maureen Lage, coined the phrase “inverted classroom” with a 2000 seminal work outlining the benefits of using technology to move active learning into the classroom and lectures outside of class.

He has won the School of Business Teaching Effectiveness Award, the Associated Student Government Effective Educator Award, and Miami University’s Knox Award for Teaching. Platt is president emeritus of the International Digital Media and Arts Association.

Besides directing AIMS, Platt teaches the capstone consulting course in interactive media studies/artificial intelligence as well as Internet marketing. He consults in areas of Internet marketing and e-commerce.

Platt received his bachelor of arts in economics (with departmental honors) from University of Florida and his master’s and doctorate in economics and in political economy from Carnegie Mellon University, graduating in 1993.
