The Emerging Media Initiative offers emerging media events throughout the year for the entire Ball State community.  

David Letterman Lecture Series

Through the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series, Ball State hosts major business, media, and academic figures for important discussions about the latest issues arising in communication and emerging media.

Named for the university’s most prominent alumnus, CBS Late Show host David Letterman, the lecture series began during the spring semester of 2009. Past speakers include: 

  • Ted Koppel, Legendary newscaster
  • Tom Kelley, general manager of IDEO, the widely admired design and development firm and author of the best-selling The Art of Innovation 
  • Biz Stone, Twitter cofounder (hosted by David Letterman) 
  • Rachel Maddow, MSNBC journalist and host (hosted by David Letterman)

Emerging Media Faculty Symposium

The Emerging Media Faculty Symposium provides an opportunity for faculty engaged in emerging media teaching, research and development to network with like-minded colleagues and hear about the latest emerging media activities on campus.


Emerging Media Digital Feeds 

The EM Digital Feed is a monthly lunchtime presentation for faculty and staff on an emerging media topic.  Each meeting is a valuable opportunity for networking and thought-provoking discussion.
