Communication: Journaling

Journals are self-reflective spaces where students post thoughts on experiences or course topics. Journal assignments help students create meaning and internalize learning as they engage in personalized one-on-one conversations with you. The private nature of journals offers students a safe environment to express themselves and receive individualized feedback.

Why use Journals in my course?

Using journals in your Blackboard course offers students the opportunity to:

  • interact with you
  • develop and state ideas
  • give reflection on topics and issues
  • share their perspective in a safe environment

Journals are private between the student and instructor.  Students do not have access to another student's journal.

Learn more about journaling by viewing the Journals section of the Blackboard help site.
