Blackboard Collaborate is a video conferencing tool similar to GoToMeeting, Adobe Connect, WebEx and others. While all of these tools are similar, they each offer their own unique options. Collaborate allows you to simultaneously share your computer screen, show your webcam and speak with a microphone. Features include public/private chat, breakout rooms, polls and whiteboard. Sessions can be scheduled, recorded and you may copy sessions from one course to another if appropriate. Session invitation lists can include course rosters and external individuals who are invited by email address.

Collaborate is a great tool to build communication and engage your students allowing you to move teaching, learning and office hours online from your office or anywhere you have both a computer and high speed internet .
