The overall mission of the partnership is to facilitate cultural growth and understanding between faculty and students at both universities and to raise the capacity of the Area Study Centre for Africa, North and South America at QiA to provide a high-quality postgraduate program in studies of the United States. The main role of Ball State’s Center for Peace and Conflict Studies will be to help foster cultural understanding and exchange, and to coordinate the research training provided to the QiA faculty and students.
Travel will occur as a two-way relationship, with QiA staff and students visiting Ball State University for intensive workshops and BSU faculty traveling to Pakistan to conduct on-site training and collaborate on research. A total of six BSU faculty members will travel to Pakistan to deliver instruction and training and collaborate with QiA faculty members on research projects. The image below shows from

Kenneth Holland, Director of the Center for International Development, is the Principal Investigator (PI) and serves as the director of the project. Maria Stanton (Assistant Professor in the Department of English) is a co-PI alongside Lawrence Gerstein (Director of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies), Christine Satory (Associate Professor in the Department of Art), John Rouse (Professor in the Department of Political Science), Elizabeth Agnew (Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies), Michael Doyle (Associate Professor in the Department of History), James Connolly (Professor in the Department of History), Kevin Smith (Professor and Chairperson in the Department of History), Jayne Beilke (Chairperson in the Department of Educational Studies), Ann Brown (Director of the Social Science Research Center), and Kelley Stedman (Research Operations Manager in SSRC).
