Opening Ceremonies begin at 12:30
Relay from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM
Muncie Fieldhouse & Track

As April is historically a very violent month, the Peace Center organizes an event each year to promote nonviolence and to memorialize the victims of violent events. This year, the Peace Center, Social Justice League, and the City of Muncie are jointly planning a relay similar to “Relay for Life” to honor the victims of violent events. Please join us for a 3-hour relay where you, as part of a team, will walk/run in honor of an organization that supports victims affected by specific violent events: Oklahoma City Bombing, Columbine High School Massacre, Virginia Tech Massacre, and the Boston Marathon Bombing.Throughout the event, there will be FREE activities for all ages of participants as well as an informational fair with social justice related organizations from both Ball State and the surrounding community. For more information and/or if you would like to get involved, please email

We chose to adopt a relay as our theme for this year out of our belief that sports can provide communities with an environment in which individuals can come together to work towards a common goal while showing respect for each other.  Please join us in using physical activity to bring together the college and the community in an effort to achieve our goal of promoting nonviolence that also mirrors the long marches to freedom, both literal and metaphorical, that peace workers and activists have undertaken to end oppression and violence.
