Ball State University has received a grant from the World Bank to provide consultancy services to the National Institute of Management and Administration (NIMA), an institute under the Deputy Minister for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, who reports to the Minister of Education of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The initial contract is $3 million for two years, with a $1.5 million one-year extension guaranteed if the consultant’s performance is satisfactory. The grant involves full-time staff in Kabul and is focused on providing and implementing a sustainable program of academic quality assurance, certification and accreditation, and faculty support and training. This grant further expands the reach of Ball State University in rebuilding the higher education sector in Afghanistan and is the Center for International Development's largest grant to date.
