Smith receive an award
from SPJ Chapter
president, Kevin Finch.

Marcus Jackman, center,
from Indiana Public
Radio, served as
consultant to the seminar.

They knew they had won an award—they didn't know they would win three.

At the Society of Professional Journalists reception in the Indianapolis Marriott, five remaining students from Lauren Onkey's spring 2005 seminar, Consuming a Nation, gathered around the banquet table for dinner before their awards were announced.

The students snagged a first place award for Best Radio Documentary or Series, Consuming a Nation; first place for Best Radio Feature, The Changing Face of Ireland; and Second Place for Best Radio Feature, Plastic Pubs.
