Key Dates

The School of Art is no longer accepting art applications for the 2016-17 academic year. As a Pre-Art major students can begin taking courses in the spring or summer 2017 and later submit a portfolio to meet currently enrolled deadlines.

Applicants must complete and submit both the university application for undergraduate admission to Ball State and the art program application (PDF). When applying, it is important that applicants indicate art as the intended major.

The School of Art recommends that students apply to Ball State in the fall, and then submit art admission and scholarship materials in the spring (beginning in January) to meet the following deadlines.

  • February 11, 2017: Open House and Portfolio Review (PDF)
Early admission consideration for BFA degree. Students applying for the BA or BS degree program are welcome to attend but are not required to present portfolios unless they are applying for scholarships. On this day, students bring actual artwork to be reviewed for admission consideration. Advance registration is required.
  • March 1, 2017: Priority deadline for admission and scholarship consideration (PDF)
Scholarship materials must be emailed by this date to receive full consideration.
  • April 1, 2017: BFA degree deadline for regular admission (no scholarship consideration). Portfolios received after this date will be considered on a space-available basis. We encouraged you to apply early.
