Visual Resources Center

The Visual Resources Center is a resource for students (majors and minors) and facutly in the School of Art.

Available for use:

  • Slides – Subjects available: art through the ages (Prehistoric thru Modern, including non-Western cultures)

  • Periodicals – Holdings include some current and past issues: American Art Review, ArtForum, Art in America, ARTnews, Flash Art, Metalsmith, Modern Painters, Printmaking Today, Print Quarterly, Sculpture, The Art Newspaper, Journal of the Print World

  • Videos - Over 100 titles that look at specific artists, movements in art, and the world of art in general. Access the catalogue of DVDs and VHS tapes -- VRC Audiovisual Catalogue 

  • Maya and Gnomon Tutorial Software – “How-to” animation software – over 20 discs

  • Reference Materials – Text resources like: Grove’s Dictionary of Art; History of Art by Janson, Gardner, Stokstad, Gilbert; art theory, criticism; museum and gallery exhibition catalogues and MORE!!!

  • Technology – A computer for research purposes, video/DVD units for viewing or previewing, light tables, slide sorters and a slide scanner for viewing and/or manipulating slides.

  • Digital Images--Access the Art History Images collection in the Bracken Library Digital Media Repository.
