Our bachelor of fine arts (BFA) in studio art with an emphasis in visual communications will prepare you to be a designer of information. In a broad sense, that covers everything about our environment: the spaces in which we live and work, the products we buy, and the messages we send and receive.
Visual communications requires attention to detail and cultural awareness. Contemporary design is much more than digital skills. Contemporary design is collaborative, bringing designers together as teams to craft innovative solutions to a wide range of traditional and contemporary formats.
At Ball State, you will work alongside your fellow visual communications majors in teams, closely supervised and guided by your instructors. You will learn, master, and refine your practical professional skills while combining a creative vision and personal aesthetic with the needs of a client.
What You Will Study
Our curriculum develops your skills, perceptions, and problem-solving abilities in traditional and digital media. You will work with professors to thoughtfully edit and revise your work for presentation and to translate your personal growth into your unique portfolio. This is a professional degree, and you will be prepared to enter the design world upon graduation.
