The School of Art offers four-year professional degree options in the disciplines of ceramics, drawing, animation, glass, metals, painting, photography and intermedia arts, printmaking, sculpture, visual communications (graphic design), a teaching major in visual arts, and art history.
In addition to a student being accepted to Ball State, approval to pursue an undergraduate degree requires a selection process within the School of Art.
Students specializing in any art program must receive grades of C or higher in all foundation core courses (ADS 101, 102; AFA 101, 202) before enrolling in advanced level courses in the specific media areas. Students must repeat courses in which they receive grades of C- or lower. Students who meet the grade requirement can then select an area of specialization for the second through fourth years of study. Specializations involve a three-year sequence of courses beyond the first year foundation core.
Our undergraduate program has been accredited through the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
