Urban Planning

Activities and Opportunities

Many times, your studies will take you outside the classroom. These opportunities and activities will enhance your urban planning experience.

A tradition in CAP is field trip week, a week in early October when faculty lead trips to places near and far. Denver, Des Moines, Nashville, Cleveland, and Baltimore are just a few of the recent places we've visited to study current city planning issues. When possible, we meet up with alumni on our trips, as well.

You’ll find several student organizations that cater to a variety of interests as well as study abroad opportunities. We also will help you obtain a required internship, which will give you more out-of-the-classroom experience.

We believe that hands-on projects and research are keys to your success. As such, you will prepare for the professional world by completing a variety of design and research projects for real-world situations and clients. Studio projects frequently take us into Muncie or Indianapolis, but our studio classes have also worked in small towns all over Indiana, including Scottsburg, Bloomfield, Warsaw, Cicero, and others.
