Graduate Assistantship

All applicants are considered for a graduate assistantship (no additional application or materials are required).

The Clinical Exercise Physiology Program offers graduate assistantships, which include the following features:

  • Average work assignments are for 20 hour per week.
  • The graduate assistantship appointment involves fall, spring, and summer semesters.
  • The graduate assistantship provides a monthly stipend. (note: the contract is for one year, renewable for the second year)
  • The graduate assistantship provides a tuition waiver.
  • All graduate assistants are provided with an office/desk area in the Human Performance Laboratory.

The following responsibilities assigned to graduate assistants include:

  • Graduate assistants work as exercise leaders in the Adult Physical Fitness Program.
  • Graduate assistants work as exercise test technicians in the Clinical Exercise Physiology testing laboratory.
  • Graduate assistants work as research assistants with the Program faculty.
  • Graduate assistants work at Ball Memorial Hospital for part of their responsibilities (cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, oncology rehabilitation) beginning in the spring semester of the first year. Regular assignments typically begin in the summer.
  • Graduate assistants may be assigned to work as a teaching assistant in an undergraduate exercise science class. These assignments usually require approximately one-two hours per week.
  • Graduate assistants may be assigned to work as a laboratory assistant/mentor in the undergraduate exercise science lab. These assignments usually require approximately one-two hours per week.
  • Graduate assistants may be assigned to work as attendants at local health fairs.
