The Joel Hale Moore Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by Mr. William Fred Moore in honor of his older brother, Joel Hale Moore, a dedicated businessman and educator who earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State.

Incoming freshmen criminal justice majors with an academic index of 3.0 or higher, or transfer students majoring in CJC with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and who also score a minimum of 1500 on the SAT are eligible to receive the scholarship. The scholarship is renewable for three years provided the student continues to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. This scholarship shall also be renewable for the recipients who change their major within the four-year eligibility period.

There is not an application specific to this scholarship. Instead, the university identifies a pool of eligible candidates based on the information provided on a student’s application for admission to Ball State University. The information provided on the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also taken into consideration. Preference will be given to students with financial need; however, other qualified students will be eligible for the award.

Additional information about this scholarship and all financial aid opportunities can be found at the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
