Getting all members of a large organization on the same page is troublesome. This is where organizational communication is invaluable. Choose this emphasis, and you’ll learn to apply communication theory that’s essential for effectively communicating across a company or organization. Subject matter includes business and professional communication, leadership, training, and consulting.
For this option, students must take the 21 credit hours of core courses required of all communication studies majors, plus another 30 hours of course work within communication studies. Courses cover theories and applications related to organizational communication, the concepts and functions of communication within an organization, interviewing, and group decision making. Professional or practical experience is required as well.
