Professor of Psychology Counseling
Kristin Perrone McGovern, Ph.D., HSPP, LMHC is a professor in the
Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services at Ball State
University. Dr. McGovern is a fellow of the American Psychological
Association Society for Counseling Psychology. She is a graduate of the
University of Minnesota (psychology BA) and Virginia Commonwealth
University (MS and PhD in counseling psychology). Her doctoral
internship was completed at the counseling center at the University of
Maryland-College Park. She also completed 2 years of supervised
postdoctoral training in neuropsychological assessment and practice.
Dr. McGovern teaches graduate courses in counseling skills and theories and
supervises the research and clinical practice of students in the
APA-approved Counseling Psychology doctoral program and the
CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program.
Her current research focus is on the integration of
neuroscience and counseling. Her interests include cognitive and
affective neuroscience, IQ and giftedness, attachment, work-family
interface, and interpersonal relationships.
