Online and Distance Education: National Rankings and Recognitions

It’s certainly true that Ball State University’s main campus programs have earned a multitude of national rankings and recognitions, and that same commitment to quality and best practices carries over into our online and distance programs.

In fact, many of the following rankings relate to both our online and main-campus offerings.

Online and Distance Education

Business

  • Ball State's Miller College of Business is among only 15 percent of business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International)—considered the gold standard in business school accreditation.
  • Ball State’s MBA in 2012 was ranked 6th among online, AACSB-accredited MBA programs by the consumer advocacy group GetEducated.com.
  • In U.S. News & World Report's  2012 Top Online Education Programs rankings, our online graduate programs in business were ranked eighth for faculty credentials and training.

Education

  • All Teachers College education programs are fully accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the North Central Association, and the Indiana Professional Standards Board. In addition, 23 programs have received national recognition through their respective professional associations.
  • Ball State Teachers College is in the top 25 in the nation for number of nationally recognized educator preparation programs it offers.
  • Our educational leadership programs were ranked 20th in the nation by Leadership Excellence magazine. The programs have been ranked since 2005.
  • In 2012, the consumer advocacy group GetEducated.com awarded four of our online graduate master’s programs in education as “Best Buys.” The rankings recognize high-quality online degrees offered for educators and teachers at a cost that ranks well below the national average. Ball State programs ranked were:
       —3rd, master's in special education
—9th, master’s in educational administration and supervision
—11th, master’s in career and technical education
       —19th, master’s in coaching education

  • U.S. News & World Report ranked Teachers College's graduate programs 81st in 2013. Most of those programs are online or offered in a blend of online and on-site courses.

Nursing

Public Relations

  • Our master’s degree in public relations is the only graduate program in the nation to receive Certification in Education for Public Relations (CEPR) by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
  • CommPro.biz listed our master’s program in public relations as one of its top 10 “up-and-comers” in 2011.
