Certificate in Literacy Instruction
Leading Readers Upward
Teachers are critical to a child’s readiness to read. That’s why every child deserves a teacher who has the expertise to lead him or her up the path to literacy achievement. In the spirit of that aspiration, Ball State University offers a new graduate certificate in literacy instruction.
This certificate meets the new licensing requirements by the Rules for Educator Preparation and Accountability (REPA) for reading teachers. It’s a good option for reading coaches, reading specialists, remedial reading teachers, and other elementary teachers who would like to add a reading license to their current license.
Certificate courses are taught by doctorally prepared faculty of the
Ball State Teachers College, considered one of the most comprehensive and renowned colleges of education in the country. The certificate can be completed in two or three semesters.
The 15-credit-hour certificate is also a good option if you’re considering a master’s degree in the future because it partially completes requirements for the
master's in elementary education (MAE).
