Program Goals

The program will recruit, retain and graduate a successful population of dietetic professionals.

  • A minimum of 15 individuals who meet the admission criteria as mandated by the Graduate School, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, and the Dietetic Internship at Ball State University will apply for each match.
  • Of these 15 qualified individuals, up to 12 will be selected by the DI selection committee for each match.
  • Overall, 90% of the students who start the internship will complete the program within 48 weeks of beginning the program.
  • Following completion of the program, 75% of program graduates will express satisfaction with the internship.

The program will prepare interns to meet the high standards of dietetic entry level professionals.

  • Interns will complete learning activities providing experiences in all competencies outlined in the 2012 ACEND Core Competencies for the RD.
  • Interns will complete learning activities providing experiences in all competencies to meet the qualification of the nutrition therapy concentration.
  • Over a five-year period, program graduates will achieve a pass rate of 80% or higher, with-in the first year, on the registration exam for dietitians.
  • Over a five-year period, 70% or more of program graduates who sought employment in dietetics will be employed within three months of program completion
  • Over a five-year period, 80% of employed graduates will rate themselves as prepared for entry-level positions.
  • During their first year of employment, program graduates will be ranked by at least 75% of employers as above average in professional knowledge and skills.
