Rankings and Recognitions

From education to architecture to entrepreneurship to nursing, Ball State’s graduate programs have a world-class reputation.

Our graduate education program ranked in the nation’s top 100, according to the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools 2009. Leadership Excellence magazine ranked our educational leadership department as the 11th best in the United States, and our student affairs administration in higher education master’s program was named the 14th best among 186 programs by the members of the National Association of Personnel Administrators.

Our Center for Information and Communication Sciences was named graduate program of the year by the International Telecommunication, Education, and Research Association.

In the College of Architecture and Planning, our programs in landscape architecture, urban planning, and historic preservation all have been ranked among the nation’s best by Design Intelligence’s 2008 America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools and Planetizen 2007 Guide to Graduate Urban Planning Programs.

The American Association of Graduate Students gave its “department of the year” award to our counseling psychology department, and a study published in The Counseling Psychologist in 2005 ranked the department 11th in North America for scholarly productivity.

The American Institute for Physics lists Ball State among the 22 strongest professional master’s degree programs in physics. U.S. News & World Report has called our online nursing master’s program the eighth largest in the country and has ranked our graduate entrepreneurship program through the Miller College of Business as 26th in its listing of best business graduate programs.
