Jack Walker Scholarships in History
In honor of Jack Walker, M.D., a co-founder of a Muncie orthopedic medical practice now known as Central Indiana Orthopedics, PC, who pursued a lifelong interest in the study of history.
Purpose: The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships to Ball State University students who have an interest in the founding of the United States.
Eligibility: Eligible for undergraduate assistance are students who are majoring either in history or social studies education and have completed at least twelve (12) hours in history, three hours of which must be History 201(the United States, 1492-1877), and three hours of which must be in another course in United States history numbered 300 and above. Students must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and submit a five hundred (500) word essay on a topic related to the history of the United States, 1763-1801 .
Selection and Notification: Decisions awarding assistance and determining the form and amount of aid are made by the Curriculum Committee of the Department of History after careful evaluation of all applications. The scholarship is not renewable. All applicants will be notified as soon as possible of the committee's decision(s).
