History Department

Fast Track Program

If you're an option one history major, consider the university's fast track program, Degree in 3. Degree in 3 allows you to graduate in three years instead of four, giving you a head start on your career or graduate school.

If this option sounds interesting, you will work with a faculty advisor and an additional advisor to help your through your studies. These advisors will meet with you on a frequent basis to help you avoid scheduling issues and provide encouragement.

You should know that this option requires that you be mature, confident, and focused. You will be required to take a full load, about 15 to 18 credit hours each semester, and you will take classes during two or three summer sessions.

Learn if you qualify for Degree in 3.

Note: Option one history is the only major in the Department of History that qualifies for Degree in 3. One of our three other majors might be more aligned to your goals: public history, which includes an internship; pre-graduate studies; and social studies teaching.
