This scholarship is in honor of Jack Walker, M.D., a co-founder of a Muncie orthopedic medical practice now known as Central Indiana Orthopedics, PC, who pursued a lifelong interest in the study of history.  The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships to Ball State University students who have an interest in the founding of the United States.


The Jack Walker Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are majoring either in history or social studies education.

Students must:

  • Completed at least 12 hours in history that includes, 
    • History 201 (the United States, 1492-1877), and 
    • Three hours in another course in United States history numbered 300 and above.
  • An overall GPA of at least 3.0

Application forms are available online now.  Students must complete an application, provide two letters of recommendation, and submit a 500 word essay on a topic related to the history of the United States, 1763-1801.
