Peer Mentors

Experienced Honors College students can help guide and support new honors freshmen through our Peer Mentors program. We look for sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are committed to and enthusiastic about the Honors College experience at Ball State.

Selected during spring for each fall semester, peer mentors meet one hour per week with a group of freshman honors students and one hour per week with a faculty supervisor for half of the semester (nine weeks). Mentors register for HONR 300: Leadership Seminar (1 credit hour). Freshmen register for HONR 100: Freshman Seminar (1 credit hour).

To be a peer mentor, you must be a member of the Honors College and have at least a 3.33 cumulative grade point average. You also must have completed at least 6 credits of honors course work. The application process for first-time mentors includes an interview. A call for applications email will be sent out by
Dr. Laurie Lindberg, Assistant Professor Honors College. Apply to be a peer mentor or contact the Honors College at 765-285-1024.

If you have questions about the Peer Mentors program, please contact James Ruebel, dean of the Honors College, John Emert, associate dean, or Dr. Laurie Lindberg, Assistant Professor Honors College.
