Classroom instruction is critical. But it’s also important to get
practical experience off
campus. To pick up a camera and tell a multimedia news story. To track down sources for a breaking story. To conceive and write advertising that drives attention and action. To interpret real data and analytics to generate insights and provide results.
Some schools make
internships optional. But at Ball State, every journalism, advertising, and PR major is required to complete one. Our students have interned at a wide range of businesses and institutions, including:
We provide a variety of resources to help you find the right internship opportunity. And while we recommend paid internships, unpaid internships are permitted, too. Internships last 10 to 12 weeks, earn you academic credit, and are most often completed in the summer after your junior year. However, you may complete a noncredit internship at any point in your academic career.
