Ball State University’s master of arts in journalism is about focusing and refining your skills in flourishing areas within the field—emerging media and literary journalism. And, the program is available completely and only online.

You will gain expertise in the areas of:

• multimedia and multiplatform storytelling
• advanced reporting techniques and research methods
• narrative nonfiction (also known as, long-form journalism)
• communication theory

This 36-credit hour program provides a collaborative, interdisciplinary curriculum taught by distinguished faculty in a nationally recognized journalism department who’ve worked on cutting-edge assignments in digital storytelling, long-form journalism, journalism graphics, news and magazine writing, photojournalism, public relations, and advertising.

Small classes mean you learn professional skills from professors who give you their full attention.

This program is designed for working journalists looking for career advancement or a new grad just entering the field. You should note that there are no on-campus requirements.
