Ball State’s long and celebrated support of high school journalism is embodied in the BSU Journalism Workshops.

Our journalism workshops provide instruction for high school and middle school students and their advisers from across the country. At our Summer Media Academy, high school students and advisers learn from nationally-recognized instructors in our state-of-the-art facility. In addition, Ball State hosts high school and middle school journalists at Journalism Day (J-Day) in the spring. Both the Summer Media Academy and J-Day bring thousands of students from Indiana and across the country to campus for skills development workshops and sessions addressing the challenges facing high school journalism and student media.

Together, these activities inspire excellence in high school journalism and raise our profile among some of the nation’s best and brightest high school journalists.
