Undergraduate Journalism: Student Agencies

It’s one thing to learn the principles of advertising, journalism, or public relations in a classroom setting. It’s another thing entirely to experience the thrill of reporting on deadline or working on a live PR or ad campaign. That’s what students experience daily in our student agencies. Learn about each one below:

Adapt

Adapt is a student-operated ad agency that works for real-world clients. At Adapt, you’ll learn the ins and outs of advertising: research, strategy, account management, creative design, media planning, copywriting, and more. The result? A major competitive advantage when you enter the advertising job market.

Social media campaign booklet Cardinal Communications created a social media plan for the College of Communication, Information and Media.

Cardinal Communications

Want to join a public relations firm where you’ll help real clients get real results? The nationally recognized, student-run Cardinal Communications provides a platform where you can put your PR chops into practice. Past clients have included Ball Corporation, Levi Strauss & Company, Indiana Bell, the Muncie mayoral office and numerous others.

Unified Media Research and Analytics Agency

In today’s media landscape, research and measurement are critical. Here’s your chance to get a crash course in both. Learn the foundations of custom audience research, get the basics on web and social media metrics and analytics, and learn how to provide return on investment for digital advertising efforts. The experience you’ll gain will strengthen your candidacy for key jobs in advertising, journalism and public relations.

Adapt and Cardinal Communications share and co-manage one of the premier, contemporary workspaces at Ball State. Learn more about the Holden Strategic Communications Center.
