Distance Education Frequently Asked Questions
Why Interactive Online Classes?
Many working professionals are unable to travel to residential campuses; interactive online classes bring the classroom to the student. Interactive web-based delivery simulates a traditional classroom; students not only see and hear the class, but also participate using a 1-800 phone number provided. Students can ask questions, contribute to class discussions, and communicate with the professor during class time from many miles away.
How do Interactive Online Classes Work?
A regularly scheduled MBA class is taught in a state-of-the-art television studio. Students on campus attend class in the studio while off-campus students attend class at the same time via a personal computer with a broadband connection. The television signal is sent via web conferencing software, Macromedia Breeze. The network used is called the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunications System (IHETS).
Can the MBA Degree be Completed by Interactive Online Classes?
Yes, all MBA foundation, core, and electives are offered via Macromedia Breeze on the IHETS network.
How Do I Contact my Professors and Submit Assignments?
Due dates for homework assignments are established at the discretion of the professor. Assignments may be mailed, submitted by e-mail, or submitted electronically using Blackboard's Digital Drop Box, as directed by each instructor. Professors may be reached by e-mail or by phone during their designated office hours. Students also can leave phone messages with the professor's departmental office.
Where are Classes Received?
Classes can also be received anywhere you can link a personal computer to the web via broadband connections.
