Alumnus Eric J. Foss, CEO of Pepsi Beverages Company (PBC), shared leadership lessons he has learned over his 29-year career on the front lines of the cola wars. He discussed the importance of creating a strong culture within an organization, learning by listening, and developing the confidence and character necessary to become a strong leader—all within the context of today’s fast-paced business environment—with Miller College students during his October visit as an Executive-in-Residence.

PBC represents 75 percent of PepsiCo’s beverage business in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. PBC employs more than 70,000 people focused on making, selling, servicing, and delivering Pepsi beverages and third-party allied brands. Foss, BS marketing ’80, joined Pepsi-Cola Company in 1982 and has held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility in the areas of sales, marketing, and general management in the field and at headquarters. In 1990, Foss was named vice president for retail strategy for Pepsi-Cola North America (PCNA). From 1994 to 1996, he served as general manager of PCNA’s Great West Business Unit. In 1996, he was named general manager of Pepsi-Cola’s Central Europe business. In 2001, he was named president.
