Assistant Professor of Accounting
Douglas Ayres, assistant professor of accounting, is an alumnus of Ball State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2001. After graduation, he spent 10 years in private practice at Somerset CPAs, P.C., a public accounting and consulting firm based in Indianapolis, Indiana. While employed at Somerset, Douglas worked as an audit manager before being promoted to senior manager within the business valuation and litigation consulting group. Upon leaving Somerset, he entered the accounting Ph.D. program at the University of Tennessee. Douglas completed his doctoral work in 2015 and joined the Ball State faculty the same year.
Douglas has teaching interests in managerial accounting, financial statement analysis, business valuation and financial accounting. Primary areas of research include the behaviors of financial analysts, the capital markets, corporate governance and auditing. His hobbies include reading, bicycling, hiking and other outdoor activities, spending time with his wife and two sons and Tennessee Volunteer football.
