John Vann, Associate Professor of Marketing, received his bachelor's in Physics from Emory University, his MBA from Michigan State University (Marketing and Transportation Administration), and his doctorate (1980) in Business Administration from the University of Florida.

Prior to joining the Ball State faculty in 1986, Vann was a faculty member at the Florida Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, and the University of Missouri in Columbia. He has presented papers at numerous national conferences including: Marketing and Public Policy, Association for Consumer Research, American Marketing Association, Macromarketing, and Southern Marketing Association.

Vann has published articles in the Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Research, Transportation Journal, Journal of Business Logistics, The Logistics and Transportation Review, Journal of Consumer Studies and Home Economics, and the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal. His Research and consulting interests include the role of marketing in economic development and sustainable business practices.
