Sushil Sharma is currently an associate dean and a professor of information systems (IS) in the Miller College of Business at Ball State University. Sharma has a unique distinction of having earned two doctoral degrees. He has over 10 years of administrative leadership experience and more than 25 years of experience in higher education. Sharma served as the Chair for the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (2008–2012) and Executive Director of the MBA and other Certificate Programs (2011-2013). A Leadership Fellow in Higher Education at Harvard University’s Management Development Program, he has co-authored/edited/co-edited twelve (12) books and published over 240 manuscripts including over eighty (80) refereed journal articles in some of the best journals in his field. His primary research interests are in information systems security, e-Learning, e-Government, computer-mediated communications, human computer interaction (HCI) and community and social informatics.

Prior to joining the faculty at Ball State, he held the associate professor position at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (India) and a visiting research associate professor at the Department of Management Science at the University of Waterloo (Canada). Sharma served as chair, Quantitative Systems Group, chair, Information Technology & Systems group, and chair, Placement at Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (India).

He has taught several graduate and undergraduate courses on a variety of subjects including database management, ERP systems (SAP), electronic commerce, computer and network security, management information systems, systems analysis and design, distributed data processing systems, computer networking, and other information systems related subjects.

Sharma has earned recognition for his teaching and research and has been a recipient of the Miller College of Business 'Extra Ordinary Year Award' for three consecutive years (2003, 2004, & 2005), Outstanding Researcher of the Year Award at the university level (2006-2007), Outstanding Researcher of the Year at Miller College of Business (2008) and Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award at the university level (2008-2009). Sharma has been the recipient of several research grants, and has also won numerous professional honors. His most co-authored work on computer security won him acclaims and he has a patent pending for this innovative work. His work on 'Cyber Slacking' has also been widely covered by several media and news channels in the United States and has often been interviewed for his work. He is often invited to speak at seminars and colloquia by international professional and academic groups on a wide variety of topics such as e-learning, management, computer and network security, ERP implementations community and social informatics, human-computer interaction (HCI) and knowledge management. He has been a featured keynote speaker for hundreds of professional forums, executive development seminars, and academic conferences. He has been a member and chair of dissertation committees for several doctoral students. Sharma has served as a consultant and advisor to numerous companies and organizations including World Bank funded projects.

Sharma currently serves as editor-in-chief of The International Journal of E-Adoption. He has been a reviewer and member of the editorial boards for several national and international journals.

Sharma has travelled worldwide and lectured in several business schools around the globe in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and North America.
