Dean Search Procedures
Each college may establish its own procedure for the selection of a college dean, such procedure to be approved by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Whatever the representation from within the college, the college-dean search committee shall have a) a faculty member of the University who is not a member of the college appointed by the Governance Committee to serve as chairperson of the search committee, and b) a designated representative of the President
- The Provost will supervise the election of a Search and Screen Committee for the new Dean of the Miller College of Business.
- One representative from the full time, regular faculty of each of the five departments of the college, elected by the departmental faculty and approved by the Provost
- A non-voting Chairperson of the Search and Screen Committee recommended by the Provost and appointed by the governance committee of the University Senate. This individual may not be a member of the faculty of the college
- A representative of the President who will act as Secretary of the Search and Screen Committee and handle all correspondence and records during the search and screen process
- Representatives of the Business community recommended by the Provost and approved by the five department chairs
- One Miller College of Business Department Chair elected by the other department chairs and approved by the Provost
- Two Miller College of Business students, one undergraduate and one graduate, as appointed by the Provost.
- Others appointed as deemed necessary by the Provost.
- The Search Committee will recommend an alphabetized slate of 3 – 5 candidates for the position of the Dean of the Miller College of Business to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
