Our many programs—including bachelor's and master's degree programs—are organized into six departments. Our offerings include nationally recognized and respected degree programs
that provide excellent academic preparation in small settings, along
with great opportunities to collaborate with expert faculty in
life-changing, real-world immersive learning experiences and internships.
- Department of Accounting—Ball State’s accounting program is among a select group of programs to earn separate accounting accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). Accounting majors land jobs in accounting firms, corporations, government agencies, and other organizations. The department offers both undergraduate and graduate studies. Accounting is the primary undergraduate major in this department.
- Department of Economics—Economics studies can lead in a number of directions. Of course, they’re a great foundation for business careers in general, as well as for jobs heavy on financial analysis. Economics also provides a solid background upon which other liberal arts studies can be built and can be a great basis for legal studies. You can study economics or mathematical economics or prepare to teach social studies with an economics concentration.
- Department of Finance and Insurance—Two distinct career paths are possible through majors within this department. These career paths relate to the creation, management, and protection of wealth and the management of business. Finance majors understand financial markets, institutions, and instruments and gain strong analytical skills necessary for the management of business in an integrated and global environment. Risk management and insurance majors study for careers in the insurance industry and in the field of risk management.
- Department of Marketing—International business offers fluency in the global processes that affect most successful companies. Marketing is advertising and a whole lot more, including the creation of essential products and services. Professional selling focuses on the relationships that businesses build with each other through a foundation of excellent service and quality business operations.
