Fed College Challenge Competition

Three economics students at Ball State's Miller College of Business made it to the final four in the 2007 Fed Challenge.

The Ball State team competed against 14 other university teams from five states at the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. Each team presented a 20-minute analysis of recent monetary policy actions and consequences, followed by a 15-minute session in which the students responded to questions from a panel of Federal Reserve economists.

Our team—David Barker, William Hutson, and James Mink—won their morning competitive session, defeating teams from Grinnell College, Indiana University-Bloomington, and the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.

In the afternoon, they competed against teams from Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Michigan, Dearborn. The winner of the final round was Northwestern University, which has won both the regional and the national Fed Challenge competition for in previous years.
