Department of Marketing

In today’s fast-paced, network-driven business world, Ball State’s Department of Marketing will equip you with a foundation of analytical skills and prepare you for the challenging career and many relationships you will build as a marketing professional. After graduation, you will be prepared to work for a range of business, not-for-profit, and public policy organizations in a wide variety of roles such as brand manager, advertising account manager, sales manager, retailing and distribution manager, and marketing researcher.

We're part of the Miller College of Business, with more than a dozen undergraduate majors, including majors and minors in professional selling, marketing, and international business.

At Ball State, you'll have unique opportunities to develop relationships with your professors and learn through doing. Most classes in the marketing and sales majors include projects that focus on businesses’ real-world problems. You may choose from a variety of electives and immersive learning classes where you spend a full semester working on an advanced marketing or sales problem and providing a real business a fully implemented solution.

The H.H. Gregg Center for Professional Selling

Nationally ranked, the H.H. Gregg Center for Professional Selling will give you hands-on experience preparing you for a successful career in professional sales, and it is one of just a few programs accredited by the Professional Society for Sales and Marketing Training.

Our Curriculum

The marketing curriculum focuses on experiential learning and includes classes in social media marketing and marketing analytics. If you major in marketing, you will be able to choose classes that provide experience in developing and executing strategic marketing plans merging the newest trends in the field with traditional communications.

Our international business major is a tailored, multidisciplinary program to prepare you for a career in today’s global business environment. Curriculum options include courses in international marketing, finance, economics, and operations along with a foreign language requirement and opportunities for study-abroad immersion.

Opportunities Outside the Classroom

In addition to rigorous study in the classroom, you will find a supportive environment with numerous opportunities outside the classroom. Immersive learning courses provide hands-on, applied experience. Professional internships allow you to gain real-world experience with an employer. Strategies for social media and the newest technology in today’s business world are emphasized in many of our courses.
