The Department of Marketing’s academic programs include three majors and three minors. Also, a variety of organizations help students find their footing in the business world.
Each course provides excellent academic preparation in small settings and extraordinary opportunities to collaborate with expert faculty in life-changing, real-world immersive learning experiences and internships.
Ball State marketing
students consistently place near the top during the Business Strategy Game. More than 2,000 teams participate in the competition every year.
The Professional Selling Competition Team travel to interscholastic sales competitions held throughout the United States. Each year, the team represents Ball State well and often bring home the trophy. By competing in these national tournaments, Ball State Sales Team students are exposed to potential employers from top firms looking to hire the best sales students.
The Center for Professional Selling is among just a handful of programs in the nation to have full membership in the University Sales Center Alliance. The purpose of certification is to ensure that the Ball State sales curriculum:
- develops the interested student into productive sales professionals by interacting with established sales experts in participating corporations
- provides an opportunity for highly talented and qualified students to attain the skills needed to select a sales career in corporate jobs that closely match their collegiate studies and career interests
- provides the corporate community with an opportunity to save millions by hiring trained professionals whose sales skills are identified, validated, and developed to match the requirements of the job
- promotes the sales profession as a skill- and talent-based behavioral process that requires organized study to perfect
