In 2004-ten years after earning her doctorate in business administration and marketing from Duke University-Mary Frances Luce returned to the university as a professor of marketing. Prior to her tenure at Duke, she was a member of the marketing faculty of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania for ten years.
A member of the Association for Consumer Research, Luce has served in various capacities with the Journal of Consumer Research, including as a member of its editorial review board and associate editor, and was cochair of the 2003 Association for Consumer Research Conference. She has received several awards for publications, including the Leo Melamed Prize (with James R. Bettman and John W. Payne), awarded by the editors of the Journal of Business for the most significant business publication in any journal by faculty not at the University of Chicago.
Luce and her husband have spent several years mentoring an inner-city student who is now a college graduate.
