The Ball State Honor Band Festival allows students to perform in an outstanding musical ensemble, become more excited about music and music making, and work with a distinguished conductor. It is our sincere desire to provide the best possible experience for your students.

How to Audition

    All steps must be complete by October 19, 2018

Audition Music by Instrument (check back August 2018)

  • Piccolo/Flute (to audition on piccolo, include the first 3 lines of the Capriccio in D Major on piccolo in your video)
  • Oboe
  • Clarinet
  • Bass Clarinet
  • Bassoon
  • Saxophone (Alto, Tenor, and Baritones saxes - all the same excerpts; play on the instrument of your choice)
  • Trumpet
  • Horn
  • Trombone
  • Euphonium/Baritone
  • Tuba
  • Percussion
  • String Bass
  • Piano

Event Information

A detailed schedule will be emailed to you upon your acceptance to the Honor Band.

Students have the choice of commuting or staying in a local hotel for $30. Ball State graduate music students will serve as chaperones. Breakfast on Saturday will be provided at the hotel for students staying there. Students cover all other meals. Each student will pay a $40 registration fee.
