Individual Music Scholarships (H-M)

The following scholarship awards are available to undergraduate students in the Ball State School of Music:

Harold Ensele Scholarship
This scholarship is for worthy students in the School of Music only.

Homer Pence Bassoon Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time entering freshman or transfer student majoring in a music program with the bassoon as the major instrument. Candidates should show promise for becoming an artist/performer and must have a strong commitment to academic excellence. The recipient must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and must be active in either the Ball State orchestra or band program as judged by the bassoon instructor.

Jean C. Kohler Piano Memorial Scholarship
The recipient must be a full-time music major and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to music majors who have demonstrated excellence in their music majors who do not hold other music scholarships; however, other outstanding entering freshman may also be considered if within the needs of the School of Music.

Mary Lou Hoover Conrad Music Scholarship
Recipients must have a major in the School of Music, with preference given to students majoring in keyboard and voice. The award is awarded to an incoming freshman student and is renewable provided the recipient continues to meet the stated criteria.

Max Pottag Memorial Scholarship
This award is for French Horn students only.

Melvin Fields and Zelda Holsinger Fields Fine Arts Scholarship Fund
This award is based on financial need to students majoring in the performing arts, especially drama and music.

Mildred Hodgson Scholarship
Award is for harp students only with freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate status.

Morgy Craig Music Scholarship Fund
The recipient must be a participant in the Jazz program and will be selected in consultation with the Director of Jazz Studies.

Mrs. F.A.Z. Kumler Award
The recipient shall be a full-time student enrolled in Ball State and majoring in one of the programs offered through the School of Music, preferably a piano student. The recipient shall be an outstanding music student (based on criteria established by the scholarship committee) experiencing financial need.

Muncie Symphony League Scholarship
The Muncie Symphony League awards two scholarships in the amount of $750 each for the spring semester. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage a student with a serious commitment to participate in ensemble music, especially in the field of symphonic music. Music Engineering Technology Scholarship
The recipient must be a full-time student with outstanding musical accomplishments in the field of music engineering.

Music Scholarship Fund (Palmer)
Recipient must maintain an overall GPA of 2.75. This award may go to music majors or minors.
