IMEA Convention Credit

INFORMATION REGARDING CREDIT FOR THE 2014 IMEA CONVENTION WILL BE POSTED AS SOON AS IT IS AVAILABLE.

We are pleased to announce that participants at the 2012 IMEA Convention may earn graduate credit (1 hr.) at Ball State University. The course is offered by the School of Music together with the School of Extended Education.

Please read and complete the following instructions carefully to ensure that you will receive credit for the course. Filling out an application and registration form begins the process, but the process is not complete until you follow up with the required materials.

GET ADMITTED

  • To receive credit for the course you must be admitted to the university. (If you are currently pursuing a graduate degree program at Ball State, or are active as a "licensure only" or "non-degree" graduate student, you may skip this step.)
  • Complete the online graduate application form
    NOTE: Many in-service teachers will likely use this course for license renewal only. You may choose to be admitted as a "Guest Student," which involves no application fee.

  • Official transcripts are needed for all applicants. However, "last minute enrollees" may submit copies of all transcripts with the understanding that official transcripts have been requested.

GET REGISTERED AND PAY THE COURSE FEE

  • Prepare to register online for the course. Make a note of the following course information:
    • Course Prefix: MUSED
    • Course Number: 593
    • Section Number: 850C
    • Course Reference #: 90844
    • Credit Hours: 1
    • Course Title: Workshop in Music Education
    • Time: Arranged
    • Place: Grand WayneConvention Center, Ft. Wayne
    • Upon admission, a BSU username and password will be sent to your personal email account. The username and password is used to register for classes online. It is also used for viewing your grades online, logging onto Course Web sites, and checking your BSU E-mail account. All Ball State correspondence will be sent to your BSU e-mail account. You can also access  your tuition information. Payments may be made anytime on-line using a credit card or e-check. Students may also mail checks or money order to the Bursar’s Office, Ball State University, Muncie, IN 47306. Bills will no longer be mailed to a student’s home. Tuition notification is sent to your BSU e-mail account when your bill is ready to be viewed.

    ATTEND THE SESSIONS AND COMPLETE THE REQUIREMENTS

    • You must attend at least 10 sessions (at least 3 but not more than 5 must be concert performances)
    • Type a summary of EACH session (minimum: one page, double-spaced)
    • Include:
      1. Session title and name of the presenter(s) or performing ensemble
      2. Summary of session content
      3. Comments regarding the value of the session to you as a music educator
    • Submit the materials by February 15 to:

      • Grades will be posted at the end of spring term. Your grades may be accessed after May 15.
