Performance Highlights

The School of Music at Ball State University has many award-winning student ensembles that have performed in many regional, national and international venues.  The following is a listing of upcoming and recent tour performances:

 Upcoming Events

  • The Golden Age of Jazz, an immersive learning project, performs at the Paramount Theatre in Anderson, IN and at the Brown County Playhouse in Nashville, IN, November 15-16, 2013.
  • The Ball State University Symphony Band will perform at the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) 2014 State Conference in Fort Wayne, IN. In February of 2014, the ensemble performs at the College Band Directors National Association North Central Divisional Conference.
  • The Ball State University Wind Ensemble performs at the College Band Directors National Association North Central Divisional Conference in February 2014. In May 2014, the Wind Ensemble performs at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference.
  • The University Singers will participate in the Sing-N-Joy International Choral Competition in Louisville, KY in November 2013. In February 2014, the ensemble travels to Cincinnati, OH to participate in the Central Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association.

Recent Tour Highlights

  • The University Singers traveled to Guangzhou, China in November 2013 to participate in the Xinghai Prize International Choir Competition, where the group received a "platinum" rating.
  • The BSU Jazz Lab Ensemble went on a 10-day tour of China in May 2012, which included performances with the Beijing Jazz Orchestra.
  • The Ball State University Chamber Choir was in residence in January 2012 at the Bavarian Music Academy in Marktoberdorf, Germany; concerts in the Basilika at Altenstadt (Wed., Jan. 4th at 7 pm) and St. Jacob's Church in Markt Rettenbach (Fri., Jan. 6th at 4:30 pm); sight-seeing excursions in Bavaria (the Bavarian Alps; King Ludwig the II's Castle Neuchswanstein and Hohenschwangau; Dachau Concentration Camp; New Year's Eve in Munich; some students took the train to Salzburg, Austria).
